The reduced travel also decreases the amount of oil needed to fill the lifter, preventing oil aeration inside the lifter, especially with steep, high-lift camshaft lobes. When aeration occurs, the pushrod seat can drop, leading to noisy and poor performance. These short-travel lifters should be set with 0.065\" - 0.070\" of pre-load. Machined from a durable steel body, these lifters are built to handle large lift camshafts and higher valve spring pressures with a slower bleed-down rate.
