The S&S 551G gear drive camshaft kit is engineered to boost your engine's performance across the RPM range, with a significant improvement in low and mid-range torque. This kit is designed for engines with 96 to 106 CID and a compression ratio between 9:1 and 9:9. By reversing the rear cam's rotation, the 551G kit allows for greater cam lift and increased valve timing accuracy by eliminating timing chain lash. Important to know

Material must be removed from the inner surface of the stock gear cover for installation. A hydraulic press and other professional-level tools are required. Cam bearings and gaskets must be replaced during installation. S&S recommends using an adjustable pushrod/cover kit. Not recommended for compression ratios of 10:1 or greater. The installer must check coil bind, valve-to-valve clearance, and valve-to-piston clearance. Due to the nature of gear drives, increased valve train noise may occur. Kit includes inner gears, outer gears, inner and outer bearings, and gaskets. Instructions are included, but professional installation is highly recommended.
